Montana Tobacco Quit Line Diabetes Campaign Success
The Arnold Agency has worked successfully with the Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program to promote its Tobacco Quit Line since 2007. While smoking remains an important public health issue, a recent campaign launched by The Arnold Agency aimed to raise awareness about the increased risks associated with smoking for those with diabetes. Research indicates that smokers with diabetes more than double their risk of illness and death from heart disease, stroke and poor circulation. Smoking can also increase insulin resistance, which can make it even harder to manage blood sugar, a critical problem for people with diabetes.
The Arnold Agency developed a multi-media campaign targeting smokers with diabetes that ran on television, radio and billboards from March 1st – March 28th. The campaign featured testimonials discussing how, while these people were aware of the dangers of smoking, they were not aware that they were at higher risks for associated health problems. The materials also promoted the Montana Tobacco Quit Line and encouraged the target audience to call for help when quitting.
Calls to the Montana Tobacco Quit Line from people with diabetes doubled while our latest media campaign was active. This monumental success is a proud accomplishment for The Arnold Agency and we are excited to be a part of this important public health issue.
